Yellow-billed Cuckoo Survey Crew Resource Page 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_1621\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/aziba.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/YBCU_Dan-Pancamo_Flikr_ok-to-use.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1621\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1621\" alt=\"Yellow-billed Cuckoo\" src=\"http:\/\/aziba.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/YBCU_Dan-Pancamo_Flikr_ok-to-use-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aziba.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/YBCU_Dan-Pancamo_Flikr_ok-to-use-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aziba.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/YBCU_Dan-Pancamo_Flikr_ok-to-use-1024x682.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1621\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Yellow-billed Cuckoo by Dan-Pancamo<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Tucson Audubon is coordinating surveys in three mountain ranges for a total of nine routes. <strong>There is a separate effort also happening this summer in SE Arizona<\/strong> coordinated by Nick Beauregard out of NAU with support from USFWS and other partners. <a href=\"http:\/\/aziba.org\/?page_id=2685\" target=\"_blank\">See more about this effort here.<\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>All information below is for the Tucson Audubon survey effort.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>This will be our main hub for this project in July &#8211; August 2019 as we survey 9 total routes in the three SE Arizona &#8220;Sky Island&#8221; areas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Santa Catalina Mountains (north of Tucson)<\/li>\n<li>Whetstone Mountains (southeast of Tucson)<\/li>\n<li>Chiricahua Mountains (near McNeal)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tucson Audubon has been given an excellent opportunity to monitor Western Yellow-billed Cuckoos in the Sky Islands of the Coronado National Forest for a fourth year.\u00a0We are focusing on further demonstrating that these Threatened birds use Madrean Sky Island habitat to nest.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>Tucson Audubon&#8217;s surveys are focusing on three areas, the Santa Catalina Mountains\u00a0 (all three routes near Peppersauce canyon, near Oracle), the Whetstone Mountains (two routes near Kartchner Canyon State Park) and Chiricahua Mountains (three routes on the southeast side and one on the southwest). <strong>The Chiricahua routes all involve group camping the afternoon before.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>It could have real conservation outcomes, including increased Critical Habitat designated for this species! We can use your help!<\/p>\n<div>If you will be in southern Arizona through most of the summer and are a reasonably strong hiker, you are qualified to help us!
